The multimedia package set up for the Kentucky Derby, that is to take place on May 3 and 4, was put together by The New York Times.
I thought this package did a great job at a couple of things. The package gave us different perspectives. One of the professional view from the jockey and that of the audience’s view. I also liked how the incorporated the fact that this jockey might be making history this coming weekend if he were to win the derby.
I do not believe that they did a good job with the video aspect of the package though. They did not use transitions between cuts of different angles between the speakers, and I also found the video rather boring. I think it would have been better off as an audio slideshow where we listened to them talking and then having photos playing of what was relevant.
I also believed that the interview was rather amateur. The lady conducting the interview did not seem very professional when speaking to the man she was interviewing.
